TMJ disorder is a condition in which the temporomandibular joint, located at the juncture of the skull and the lower jaw, becomes inflamed. Symptoms may include pain and stiffness in the jaw and clicking or popping noises when opening and closing the mouth. Although there is no cure for this condition, treatments are available to help manage the symptoms associated with this disorder.

At our practice, Dr. Wagner offers individualized treatment plans designed to reduce pain and stiffness of the jaw and protect muscles and ligaments from further damage. Treatment options include the use of custom-made splints to properly align the teeth and jaws as well as various reconstructive procedures to restore harmony to the bite. If you would like to learn more about the treatments for TMJ disorder available at our practice, please contact us today to schedule a personal consultation.

Tooth-colored fillings are excellent alternatives to the silver fillings that have conventionally been used to treat cavities. Rather than a metal based compound, tooth-colored fillings are made of a durable composite resin. This helps to create a restoration that is virtually impossible for others to distinguish. Tooth-colored fillings can even be used to replace existing silver fillings for a more natural looking smile.

At our office, we use the DIAGNOdent® laser system to detect early forms of tooth decay and treat them before serious conditions arise. The DIAGNOdent® laser detects decay by measuring the density of your teeth. By indicating the presence of decay early on, the DIAGNOdent® system allows Dr. Wagner to preserve more of your tooth’s structure when treating the cavity.

The extraction of a damaged, diseased, or improperly positioned tooth is sometimes necessary to preserve the overall health of the mouth. Removing such a tooth can eliminate pain and prevent future damage or infection of the surrounding teeth. Dr. Wagner has extensive experience in tooth extraction and will help to ensure that the procedure is as painless and worry-free as possible for you. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, please contact us today. Learn more on our Tooth Extractions FAQs page.

At our practice, we offer several different kinds of dentures that can provide beautiful smiles to people missing their natural teeth. Dentures are custom made to fit comfortably inside the mouth and can help reduce speech impediments and chewing discomfort caused by missing teeth. During your initial consultation, Dr. Wagner will discuss the different options available to you and work with you to determine which type of denture is best suited to your unique needs. If you would like to schedule an appointment or learn more about dentures, please contact our office today.

Inside each one of your teeth is a chamber filled with nerves and blood vessels called the pulp cavity. The pulp cavity receives the nerves and vessels from a passage in the tooth root called the root canal.

Proper care of your teeth and gums will help to keep the root canals in your mouth healthy and functioning optimally. However, poor oral hygiene or an injury that fractures a part of a tooth can result in an infection. The signs of a root canal infection include:

  • Toothache
  • Difficulty chewing hard foods
  • Hypersensitivity to hot and cold liquids

Aside from extracting the affected tooth, the only way to treat the condition is through root canal therapy.
In this procedure, Dr. Wagner carefully removes all of the damaged tissue from inside the tooth and replaces it with a biocompatible material. Afterward, most patients are fitted with a crown on their treated tooth to restore its strength and appearance.

If you have an infected tooth, root canal therapy is essential to maintaining the overall health of your mouth. It will prevent the tooth from eventually falling out and requiring a fixed restoration, such as a bridge or partial denture, to replace it. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms mentioned above, please contact us to learn more or to schedule an appointment. The sooner you call, the better able we are to save your tooth and keep your smile looking its best.
